Konnichiwa! I'm Dillon ^__^ I'm fairly certain I've found a roommate, but I'm still very excited to share some stuff about myself as well as learn a bit about you all :3

I'm from Louisville, KY. I'm rather liberal and will probably continue further down that road as I become more educated in my opinions (much to the dismay of my father). I like sweet tea and hot chocolate and deep talks and road trips and cuddling and books and rainy day movies and sour skittles and Pokemon and old disney movies and anime and abs and philosophical discussions and campfires with lots of smores and singing (preferrably the Beatles or Sigur Ros). I can play various songs on the guitar, but I hope to one day commit to learning to play the piano.

I hope to be involved with VSA, QCVC, Quidditch, and Aikido.

If I had to pick a religion, it would be Imogen Heap. or Utada Hikaru. Otherwise, I'm an Agnostic Atheist, but am always curious and open to what others believe.

Currently, I’m looking to do something with Nanotechnology(in grad school) and Film(cinematography/film making) with interests in Cognitive Science, Philosophy and Japanese culture and language.

In the hope of not overdoing this, I'll stop there. Can't wait to meet you all in around 80 days. hehehe ^_^

Hi! I'm Lennon and I come from a smallish town on the border of Wisconsin and Minnesota. I don't Know exactly what to write but I spend a considerable amount of time outdoors hiking, exercising, or just hanging out with friends. I like nice people with a good sense of humor and can keep up a conversation. I like being up late but not too late on the weekdays. I drink but am not obnoxious, I smoke but not cigarettes.

Music: Bob Dylan, Odd Future, Grateful Dead, Kanye West, old school rock, various other rap artists.

Hobbies: I enjoy the outdoors, I am very interested in politics, I like physical activity and competition, I like to party.

Hey guys! My name is Jessica Au (pronounced "ow"), and I'm from West Des Moines, Iowa. I'm hoping Vassar has tractor parking spots available, or else I'm not sure how I'll get around! (I'm just kidding, I don't really have a tractor.)

I'm looking toward International Relations and Chinese, though I'm also interested in the sciences.

Some things I like include baking, watching movies, and learning Mandarin-Chinese. I don't play any instruments or sing or anything, but if you do, I already admire you.:) (There's a reason why I'm not musical, after all.) I'll listen to any and every kind of music. Also, I'm pretty BA at ping pong and badminton!

I'm fairly liberal, and I don't smoke or drink. Though I'm not super-clean I like to keep things tidy. As for my sleep schedule, I sometimes stay up late on the weekends, but I have a fairly regular sleep schedule on weekdays. I'm not picky about having to sleep at specific times though.

I'm agnostic myself, but I'm open to discussing and learning about other religions and ways of life.

Overall I'm pretty laid back with a decent sense of humor. I like to socialize, laugh, and just have a lot of fun.

I'm excited to meet everyone in August!:) If anyone's interested in being roomies or friends, just let me know:

Heyaaa Vassar people! My name is Nicholas Christopher Connolly (because middle things make things sounds so much more special!). I live, and have always lived, in Slingerlands, NY which is near Albany.
Talking about me is a passion of mine, so I’ll make a concerted effort not to overdo this [hi past me, this is future me skimming what you’re about to write…bro, you failed], but no guarantees. I love enjoy (love is a special words that is over used far too often) so many things, but have so little time in my life I haven’t been able to try master most of my passions. If you are good at something, chances are I would by thrilled if you taught me…whatever it is. That said I am good at eating. I’m the world’s biggest foodie. I will seriously eat anything (that is served to me in a restaurant, that dead bird in your backyard is a no-no). That said I’m especially partial to Italian food (what I’m I saying it’s the best food in the world). Primarily being of Irish and Italian decent, I have been raised to appreciate (and at times blindly accept) the glory of all things Italian (cars, food, art, history, heritage, music, people, even the political incorrect grains of truth found in many Silvio Berlusconi comments). For example, I listen to Italian opera quite frequently (Renata Tebaldi and Luciano Pavaroti are awesome!). My taste in music is really eclectic though. Keeping with the embracing my heritage them, I listen to a lot of Irish (and Scottish, because I’m that too) music. However foreign music certainly isn’t the majority of my iTunes library. I don’t usually like particular artists, generally I just like specific songs (my favorite song- and it always changes- is currently “Some Nights” by Fun.). That said, Michael Franti, Andy Grammer, Lady Gaga, Hayley Westenra, Mumford and Sons, Owl City, Westlife, Coldplay, and MIKA (actually I like ever single song he has ever done, which is an unsurpassed record) are among a few musicians whom I have several songs by.
I love history. This is probably because I loved mythology first. I grew up on Greek, Roman, Norse, and Egyptian myths (like seriously, these were my bedtime stories for years). I have massive encyclopedias of mythological and historical texts I would read cover to cover). At six, my number one career choice was “Egyptologist.” I was a unique little kid; my favorite color was periwinkle (it blue now btw). I still love this stuff, but haven’t been able to do much with it in High School. Thank God for Vassar (fyi I’m a baptized Catholic, practicing atheist, but people religion is nbd to me).
Totally undecided about majors, but that’s the beauty of a liberal arts college, no? Possibilities include Renaissance Art History, Italian, Classical/Greco-Roman History, Economics, and Political Science. Probably going to double major.
Speaking of poli-sci. I’m really into politics. Take things issues, by issue and I used to be fairly conservative (at least by my family’s standards) across the board, but I’m becoming more liberal everyday (have always been a Dem sympathizer, though). I can totally turn my political/argument mode on and off. Future plans include getting a JD/MBA. This brings me to two things.
1) I was very involved in Mock Trail and a political think tank/debate group in HS, as well as being a staff writer and copy editor for my papers Opinions page (love to write, fiction too. I love reader and writing fictions. As an undercover nerd I must say my favorite book and movie are both the Lord of the Rings).
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART, READ BELLOW IF ABOVE IS TO WORDY =D
2) I need a politics buddy. In fact, coming to a new place I need lots of friend positions to fill. Positions may have multiple holders. These include, most certainly are not limited to:
-politics buddy (liberal > agree with me most of the time)
-politics buddy (conservative > lets argue but still be friends)
-shopping buddy (do you like shinny things, nice things, clothes?)
-walking buddy (walk with me to places; fear confession time, I hate being alone, because that means I won’t get complements or positive reinforcement, which like, I NEED. Also you can’t be as fast as me in case we get attacked by a large predatory animal or a criminal…)
-study buddy (duh! > share classes/academic interests)
-tech buddy (I’m a Luddite, I just got a Facebook. What’s a Twitter? What’s aTumblr? Help me =S)
-nerd appreciation buddy (SW, LoTR, DA:O, ME3; TESV > if you understand these abbreviations you’ve pretty much got the job; if you’ve read the Silmarillion, that helps too).
-gym buddy and/or personal cheerleader (I need motivation. It would be great to have someone to work out with, but also if that’s not your things you can just stand next to me and encourage me).
-bestyy (warning, I can’t guarantee this will only be filled by one person).
-hipster friend (good naturedly make fun of my music tastes for being to main stream)
-music buddy (make me feel better when my hipster friend almost makes me cry)
-foodie buddy (do you have a passion for organ meat?)
-Italian-American friend (isn’t everything Italian awesome; WARNING: fans of the Jersey Shore are automatically disqualified from this position).
-Vassar buddy (haven’t seen I position you like? Np,make your own!!!)
I love to talk, preferably to people, and apparently I’m a great listener (coincidentally I’m also great at zoning out…). Hmu on Facebook, here: http://www.facebook.com/nicholascconnolly And, ;like I have Skype now, so there’s that . User name is “nick.c.19”. I don’t see my friends quite as much as I did during the school year. Fill the void!).
Happy Summer everyone!!! Cya at Vassar!

Hi, I'm Cheyenne.

Typing this out is proving a lot harder than I would have thought, and putting in this bit is helping me start typing, so thank you for reading my little digression.

So, here's a little bit about me. I love good books that make me think, TV shows that make me think like Sherlock and Doctor Who. I watch anime too! I'm generally a low key person, and pretty straight forward about things. If there is a problem or you need my help or advice, little hints might get missed so I'm the person to be blunt with and I don't get offended by it.

I have a few little weird habits I've picked up, so bear with me. I joke around a lot of the time, usually with the literal meaning of stuff. I forget things all the time and I put weird sauces on top of my salad.

So, if you're looking for an agreeable, honest, and nerdy person and won't mind the occasional smell of vinegar sauces and the odd way of speaking, We should get along just fine!

Hi everyone, my name is Zach.
I'm from Memphis, and I have a pretty eclectic set of interests.
I am a HUGE coin collector, but I'm also in to history, old movies, and cartoons (particularly the silent kind), and I love baseball more than any other sport.
My music interests are mainly 90s and alternative, so my favorites are The National, Arcade Fire, Interpol, Smash Mouth, Hey Marseilles, and others.

I really want to go to med school, but I'm still not sure what to major in while I'm at Vassar. I'm a fairly clean guy, and I can get messy every once in a while, but I always clean it up. I WILL NOT SMOKE or live with a smoker, sorry, and I don't plan on drinking underage.
I'm politically liberal, but for some reason, a lot of my friends are conservatives. I know, I've never understood it either.
Being from Memphis, I only get to ski about four days a year, but it's still my favorite activity, and I hope to be doing a lot of it and and a lot of camping at college. I'm an Eagle Scout, so it's kinda my thing.

Some other things about me, I like going to bed around 12:00 AM and waking up by 7:00 AM. I cannot procrastinate, I just feel bad whenever I do. I can't believe I haven't mentioned this yet, but I play the drums. I love drumming to my favorite songs, but I also play snare, bass drum, and timpani. I can play the xylophone, but I need some practice.
Thanks for reading, and see you guys in August!

Hi eveybody :) My name is Marokey Sawo and I'm from the Bronx, NY. I'm a very proud African (Africa all dayyyyy baby) but I'm not really picky about my roommate's race, as long as you're a nice person, we cool. I'm Muslim just in case you wondering about my religion.
I'm somewhat quiet when I meet new people but then when I get to know you I can get kinda crazy (just a lil' bit).
I love to freestyle dance. I love music, especially hip hop, R&B (Trey Songz all day :D ), some pop music. The only music I don't really like is mainly rock (especially heavy metal) and country music.
I'm not really a neat freak but I'm not a fan of too much mess (I can't stand clothes on the floor).
I don't smoke or drink and I'm not willing to live with a smoker (the smell kills me).
I'm planning on majoring in Economics and everything else possible. I take my school work seriously, but I also like to party and have fun.
I'm an early bird during school days but my sleeping patterns get messed up during summer.
I'm easy to get along with as long as you don't mess with my stuff and try to pressure me into doing things I don't want to, otherwise we could be best friends :)
Hmu on facebook if you wanna talk and what not. My fb name is Miz Boss Sawo http://www.facebook.com/mobileprotection#!/marokey.sawo and see you guys in August, enjoy your summer :)

Hey all! I'm Erin Boss. I live in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a fairly liberal college town nestled in the heart of the Bible Belt. I'm a liberal feminist, interested in political science and history. But actually I'm interested in everything. Major in all the things! (Am I the only one who has this problem?)

I like to sleep and rise early-ish on weekdays, but weekends can be late. I do really like mornings, though. I'm basically a marathon sleeper. It's a shame it's not a sport, really.

Speaking of sports, I'm terribly lacking in athleticism, but I like to be healthy! I like easy walks and bike rides, and I'm excited to hike in the Catskills and other areas around Poughkeepsie.

So, I really, really love history. I will geek out with you about historical events or people whenever you want.

I like to maintain a tidy room, but I'm certainly not meticulous. I don't drink or smoke. I'm an introvert, but I'm not shy. I just prefer to hang out with an intimate group having an interesting conversation or doing something new and exciting rather than a large, loud group.

Other things I'm interested in: art history, anthropology, grammar and linguistics, French, environmental science. In high school, I've been on the newspaper staff and debate team. I love Harry Potter. And reading. Books!

Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but I've currently submitted my housing application as random, let's room together maybe?

P.S. Wellness housing, anyone?

My name is Christian Phelps. I am from the hometown of Bon Iver, a small city called Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and my music taste is accordingly folksy, unless it's Ke$ha-y. That mood occurs more frequently than it should. (I'm not ashamed.)

I am very detail-oriented. I play tennis and run cross country (I am a Vassar tennis recruit). I keep my bedroom neat and clean, stay up late-ish, and wake up late-ish. If you take a morning class, I won't hate you, because I'm not crabby in the mornings. I will just respectfully fall back asleep after you leave.

That being said, I've noticed that it's pretty common for people to warn about their sarcasm. Good for you! But I win that. If you are easily offended... oops. My friendships are generally based on "good natured ribbing," as a weird man talking to me once called it.

I don't know what I'll study. Languages or social studies, probably. Econ, international studies, English, or a foreign language will probably end up being my major.

I take school seriously and my friends equally seriously. They are just as good a source of education.

If you're going to be on me about partying, I will probably throw something heavy at you and party anyway. NOT A LOT! No. Just sometimes. And you don't have to participate! No. You just have to let me.

I am a die-hard Midwest liberal, but that might mean I'm a die-hard East Coast conservative. I have no idea.

Pretentiousness kind of annoys me. I like interesting people who aren't trying so hard to be interesting that they have to tell me about it. I'll do my thing, you do your thing.

I will struggle kicking my TV show habit in college. Stephen Colbert is my daily news source.

Things Wisconsin has done to me: I love the Packers, I love cheese. I have already requested that my parents include aged cheddar in their care packages.

Anyway, if you want, HIT ME UP BROS. https://www.facebook.com/cphelps.cp

Hullo, My name is Alana. I'm from the lovely Long Island, New York.

What can I say about myself? Well, I love writing and drawing with a passion. I'm always thinking of new ideas and the likes, and I never go anywhere without my iPad.
Most of the time I'll just go to places and pretend I'm writing, but that's a secret, so don't tell anyone, okay?
Edgar Allen Poe and William Shakespeare are pretty much my literary idols. Their styles are just so beautiful, and I would be honored to have even half of the literary merit that they have.

Contrary to my favorite writers I am a very sweet, shy girl. I tend to be pretty quiet and solitary, but if you get to know me, you'll have a great time. I am also EXTREMELY competitive, especially in education and when I run Cross Country. Trust me, I have elbowed girls to the ground before in races. But I still got a medal, and they'll be fine!

I do love music, any kind (except rap). I really like to experiment with different sounds, and it's fun learning about people's musical interests so I'm open to anything (except RAP). Personally, I dance and I play the guitar. I like to think I'm as good as Jimmy Hendrix but honestly, my playing sounds like one of those toy guitars that 3 year olds bang with their fists.

I am a bit of a gamer, so yeah, I'm nerdy like that.

I know a little French and a little Japanese. I also know A LOT of English ( it's only my first language and all...). Being very diverse myself, love learning about different cultures (I'm totally into Japanese and French culture at the moment).
I want to study biology and english since I want to go to med school.

As for rooming; well I'm always up late (I work better at night than during the day). I'm pretty OCD about how certain things are kept, but I'm pretty messy, so hassle me to clean up please! I'd like wellness rooming, I'd be a little more comfortable that way. I'm fine with room-mates, but I don't do well with heavy sleepers. If you are one, please have an alarm clock. PLEASE. But I will be very kind to you, I promise.

To wrap it up, I'm a very gentle *coughexceptincompetitioncough*, sweet chick. I can be pretty shy, but I have a good heart. I can't wait to meet you guys! ;)

I totally don't have facebook, man. Maybe I should get one... But you could always email me at blancnoirchat@gmail.com

Hey guys!

(before i start, it feels weird writing about myself like this. its like an online dating service. i like long strolls on the beach...)

I'm Thomas and I'm from the Boston area. My highschool was really small, around 150 students in grades 6 through 12 (yeah, that small) but I am really excited to meet new people at vassar and it would be awesome to find a chill roomate. A bit about myself.

I love basketball and soccer. I will probably want to play intramural basketball. I was pretty big into baseball, but then the redsox starting to suck, but I still like the game. I also play tennis and do a lot of skiing.

I love writing as well, mainly fiction though I have done some poetry. Writing and humanities. Those are my things.

I love movies, and I am thinking about being a film major, though I am also interested in economics, history and english. I love reading the American writers such as fitzgerald (yes, i as well read the cliche high school book the great gatsby, and i too thought it was incredible) and hemingway. I am a huge james bond fan and have read all of the books. Some of my favorite movies are Good Will Hunting, The Third Man, lost in translation, cyrus, senna, gladiator and the godfather. I love music, and I am into pretty much everything, from blink 182 (go 90s!) to childish gambino to audioslave, red hot chilipeppers, jay z, lemaitre, justice and bon iver, plus many more. a good mashup will really get me. I'm also into dubstep/techno. I like to have a good time and am pretty laid back. As for sleeping habits, I tend to crash around midnight, and if possible i sleep in. I like to keep my room pretty organized, though by no means perfect. I'm not a huge partier, but I would like to have fun in college.

I have a pretty good sense of humour and I like to joke around. I like poking fun at people (harmlessly, of course) and telling funny stories. freestyle rap battles are also the best thing to do with a bunch of people. I also love tim and eric (anyone?). On a more serious note, having a good conversation about anything is the key to a good relationship, so it would be awesome if anyone shared some of my interests.

hit me up at thomas.adam37@gmail.com, or message me on my fb http://www.facebook.com/thomas.adam.3154

get pumped class of 2016. its gonna be awesome.

peace out

thomas

Hello fellow Vassarians.
I'm Maranda Barry from Berkeley, California. I already have a roommate, but I'm getting so excited reading all of your posts that I just want to move in right away and live it up with you cool people! Meeting new friends makes me nervous but it's also one of my absolute favorite activities and I can get sort of hyper and overbearing and weird -- I'm sort of like a puppy in that way. So take all this stuff with a grain of salt.

I'm into cats -- not in a crazy cat lady way, and I don't even have one, but I'm a huge cat person, and I'll argue with you for a very long time about how I think they're better than dogs.

Dancing is my favorite. Any style or nonstyle, any location or hour of the day or night. Really hoping to find a jackpot of dancing maniacs at Vassar.

I love to be in nature -- anybody feel like being backpacking buddies? I can't wait to explore upstate New York, plus I make a mean camping calzone.

My biggest role model is Beyoncé. Gloria Steinem a close second.

I really like theater, for both the acting and the tight communities it always seems to create. I'll definitely be acting next year, if I can.

I like to party but I like to be sober too.

Interested in Psych, Anthro, Sociology, Lit, History, Anatomy, and not Math but if you like Math we could still probably have a cool discussion about numbery things.

To me, the most important thing is open-mindedness. Whether you're liberal or conservative, I'd love to talk to you about it and I promise to really think about what you have to say.

I'm a cuddler. Big time.

If you want to meet me and maybe be my friend, or even if you want to tell me off or lecture me or joke with me or just say hi and then never speak to me again but maybe we'll meet three years down the road and totally hit it off -- facebook me! https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=723026715

Maranda.

Bonjour there. Hola. Hello. My name is Julia Simcoe and I'm from small town, upstate NY. Since that's basically where Vassar is located, and since NY is the most represented state at Vassar, I'll specify: My town is called Norwich, located about an hour to the north of Binghamton, and is the headquarters of Chobani yogurt. I used to hate coming from a this hole full of uncultured, inbred fatsos who never left the area, but I've made peace with where I spent my childhood and am finally seeings it charm (a close-knit, involved community).

I took a gap year before college in the north of France, where I was an exchange student. I'm actually in my last week here and currently, sitting on the couch while my host family's watching an italian action movie dubbed in French.
I would love to room with someone who speaks French, anyone who has lived abroad, or just anyone who's cool with me shouting " OH PUTAIN" at you if you happen to make me mad, which is honestly really quite hard to do. I want to connect with the Francophone community at Vassar, so if you're a part of that, get at me, or if you'd like a roommate who can introduce you to French cuties, get at me as well.

I like going to bed early (in high school, I couched by 11ish), but I realize in college, my bedtime will be pushed back to accomodate the busier and more exciting lifestyle we'll have. That being said, I like my sleep and I'd like to maximize it as much as possible. ZzZzZZZzz.

I'm not a super wild partier, but I do like to drink and put on a dress and brush my hair in front of the mirror.
I definitely don't smoke, but having lived in France for a year, I would be quite unbothered by a tobacco-smoking roommate.
Oh, it would be a total bonus for me if my roommate likes to put on ambiance music when we're in our room hanging out! I love Mumford&Sons, Coldplay, Matt and Kim, Bon Iver, and a lot of other artists who people generally think are depressing but soo soo nice on the ears.

I believe in boogey-ing around the room to good music can cure any mental problems, depression, intellectual blockage, whatever.

Alorsss, if anyone out there is at least a little bit interested in being the roommate of a 19-year-old, undecided-major, francophone-loving, native upstate New York State-r, realllly nice girl, let me know .
